About the role

Provide gastroenterology health care by evaluating patients and instituting therapy in collaboration with gastroenterologists. Responsibilities include performing physical exams, managing chronic GI diseases, and handling hospital coverage call.

Position Details

  • Schedule: Full-Time, salaried, exempt position (open to a 0.8 FTE, 0.9 FTE or 1.0 FTE)
  • Location: Coon Rapids - MNGI Digestive Health
  • Salary Range: Starting range $120,000 - $147,000 (Where an applicant may fall on the salary range will vary based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to experience & education)

Key responsibilities

Provides gastroenterology health care to individuals, evaluating health problems and instituting therapy in collaboration with a MNGI gastroenterologist and/or referring for other care. Looking for an Advanced Practice Provider interested in a 0.8 FTE, 0.9 FTE or 1.0 FTE. This position would work mainly out of our Coon Rapids MNGI Digestive Health location, along with the hospital.

Essential Functions

  • In order to perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily and regular attendance is required. The responsibilities listed below are representative of the primary essential functions required; additional duties may be assigned.   • Works in our clinics and/or the hospitals in which we support
  • Completes initial and follow up consultation with patients in the hospital and clinical setting in collaboration with a MNGI gastroenterologist
  • Completes patient history, physical exams and provide patient teaching as applicable
  • Documents patient encounters appropriately and in a timely manner to ensure consistency of care and adequate billing
  • Initiation and management of therapies for preventative and chronic GI disease
  • Issuing prescription orders for medications and completing prescription refill requests in 24 hours
  • Review and sign off on labs within 72 hours
  • Use formularies and guidelines to help patients manage the cost of their care
  • Proficient use of electronic medical records
  • Uses MNGI disease guidelines and protocols in making medical decisions
  • Coordinates in-patient video capsules and procedures in hospital as defined by current guidelines
  • Required to take hospital coverage call as assigned
  • Other duties may be assigned to meet business need

At minimum, must have one of the following degrees

  • Bachelors degree in Science, Physician Assistant Studies
  • Masters degree in Nursing, Nurse Practitioner

Certifications/Licenses

Certified Nurse Practitioner license or Certified Physician Assistant license is required. Must maintain a BLS certification.

  • The employee is regularly required to talk and hear.
  • The employee is required to use dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, other clinic equipment, and to possibly perform phlebotomy.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.
  • The employee may be required to lift and transport items up to 50 pounds.
  • Employees may be required to travel to other company locations due to staffing and training needs.

While performing the duties of this position, the employee works in a clinical environment and may be exposed to hazardous chemicals or conditions including exposure to blood or other body fluids.

Appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and training will be provided.

The employee is exposed to a computer monitor daily.

The employee may be required to travel by automobile and exposed to changing weather conditions while performing the duties of this position.

While performing the duties of this position, the employee must be alert to conditions that may impact the safety of patients, employees and visitors.
