Position Overview Well Rooted Pediatrics is seeking a full-time Pediatric or Family Nurse Practitioner who is passionate about delivering comprehensive pediatric care through both conventional and functional medicine principles. This position is ideal for a provider who values longer appointments when clinically appropriate, enjoys solving complex pediatric cases, and desires to practice medicine that looks beyond symptom management to identify underlying causes of disease.

The ideal candidate is passionate about caring for infants, children, and adolescents with both acute and chronic health concerns, including gastrointestinal disorders, developmental and behavioral conditions, allergies, eczema, recurrent infections, ADHD, autism spectrum disorders, nutritional deficiencies, autoimmune conditions, and other complex pediatric concerns.

  • Essential Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive pediatric primary care, including well-child examinations, sick visits, developmental screenings, and preventive care.
  • Diagnose and manage acute and chronic pediatric illnesses using evidence-based conventional and functional medicine principles.
  • Conduct comprehensive patient evaluations, including detailed medical histories, lifestyle assessments, environmental exposures, nutritional evaluations, and developmental reviews.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans incorporating nutrition, lifestyle modifications, supplements, medications, and other therapeutic interventions when appropriate.
  • Order, interpret, and communicate conventional and specialty laboratory testing, including functional medicine testing when clinically indicated.
  • Provide vaccine counseling that respects parental choice while following practice policies and evidence-based recommendations.
  • Evaluate and manage behavioral and developmental concerns, including ADHD, autism spectrum disorders, anxiety, learning differences, and emotional health.
  • Educate families on nutrition, sleep, gut health, immune function, environmental wellness, and healthy lifestyle habits.
  • Coordinate care with specialists, therapists, schools, and community resources to ensure comprehensive patient management.
  • Document all patient encounters accurately and timely within the Elation Electronic Health Record (EHR).
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, clinical meetings, provider collaboration, and continuing education.
  • Maintain compliance with all federal, state, and practice regulations, policies, and clinical protocols.
  • Represent Well Rooted Pediatrics professionally while fostering positive relationships with patients, families, and team members.
  • Functional & Integrative Medicine Responsibilities
  • Utilize a root-cause approach to evaluate chronic pediatric conditions.
  • Interpret specialty laboratory testing including gastrointestinal health, micronutrient status, metabolic function, food sensitivities, and other functional assessments.
  • Develop comprehensive supplement protocols and lifestyle recommendations based on clinical findings.
  • Counsel families on nutrition, elimination diets, gut healing protocols, environmental toxin reduction, and healthy lifestyle interventions.
  • Collaborate with other providers to develop individualized care plans for medically complex patients.
  • Stay current on emerging research in pediatric functional and integrative medicine.

Qualifications

  • — Required
  • Active Nurse Practitioner (PNP) license in the State of Texas.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • Experience providing pediatric primary care, minimum of 2+ years.
  • Excellent clinical judgment and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and patient education abilities.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

  • — Preferred
  • Experience or training in Functional Medicine, Integrative Medicine, Lifestyle Medicine, or Holistic Pediatrics.
  • Training through the Institute for Functional Medicine (IFM), Integrative Medicine Academy, MAPS, A4M, or similar organizations.
  • Experience managing pediatric gastrointestinal disorders, behavioral health concerns, autism spectrum disorders, ADHD, food sensitivities, and chronic inflammatory conditions.
  • Experience interpreting specialty laboratory testing.

Requirements
