Job Summary

The Occupational Therapist specializes in the evaluation and treatment of infants, children, and adolescents with developmental, sensory processing, neurologic, orthopedic, and behavioral conditions that impact participation in daily activities. The therapist develops individualized, evidence-based treatment plans to promote functional independence, enhance developmental skills, and support successful participation at home, school, and in the community. This role partners closely with families, caregivers, physicians, educators, and interdisciplinary team members to deliver family-centered care while also providing occupational therapy services to adult patients as needed. The Occupational Therapist contributes to program development, community outreach, and staff education to advance pediatric rehabilitation services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctoral degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program
• Current Occupational Therapist licensure in the State of Wisconsin (or eligible for licensure)
• Current BLS certification or ability to obtain upon hire
• Pediatric occupational therapy experience preferred
• Experience with developmental delays, sensory integration, autism spectrum disorders, feeding, orthopedic, and neurologic conditions preferred
• Knowledge of standardized pediatric assessments and family-centered treatment approaches preferred
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in the Occupational Therapy field.

Physical Requirements for the Role

• Sit, stand, or walk, while paying close attention to detail and continual use of equipment in the carrying out of programs and related activities.
• Lift from floor to waist and waist to shoulder and carry up to 50 pounds occasionally and 20 pounds frequently for job specified tasks. Lifting forces vary depending on weight and ability to assist.
• Push and pull up to 50 pounds occasionally and 20 pounds frequently for activities such as moving cleaning equipment, weights and furniture and other equipment and materials.
• Bend the trunk up to 20 degrees or greater and twist occasionally for job tasks completed over tables, or seated.
• Squat and kneel occasionally for activities such as manipulating weights, cleaning of equipment and interacting with children.
• Reach to shoulder height frequently, and above shoulder height occassionally for activities such as teaching group exercise routines, storing and cleaning of equipment and supplies, and operating equipment.
• Pinch and grip with various forces and use bimanual dexterity occasionally for activities.
• Communicate via spoken, written or electronic words with members and staff on a frequent basis. The worker frequently uses the computer for documentation, ongoing through the shift, sitting for periods of time with static postures, using repetitive movements of the wrists, hands and fingers to enter data.

Work Environment

The occupational therapist will work in the outpatient and inpatient settings. The noise level in the work environment is minimal to moderate. There is potential for working with patients with health-related illnesses and various comorbidities.
