  • Purpose: - The Peer Support Specialist at LIFESTREAM BEHAVIORAL CENTER is responsible for providing support, encouragement, and guidance to individuals experiencing mental health challenges. The role involves leveraging personal experiences with mental health recovery to inspire hope and motivate clients towards achieving their personal recovery goals. The Peer Support Specialist acts as a role model and advocate, promoting self-determination and empowerment.

  • Responsibilities: - Provide one-on-one peer support and mentoring to clients, utilizing personal experiences to offer empathy and understanding. - Assist clients in developing recovery plans and setting achievable goals, while encouraging self-advocacy and personal responsibility. - Facilitate peer support groups and workshops, fostering a supportive community environment. - Collaborate with clinical staff to ensure comprehensive care and support for clients. - Maintain accurate and timely documentation of client interactions and progress. - Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge. - Advocate for clients' needs and rights within the organization and the broader community. - Educate clients and their families about available resources and services, providing guidance on navigating the mental health system. - Promote a recovery-oriented approach in all interactions, encouraging hope and resilience.
  • QualificationsRequired
  • Education: - High school diploma or GED equivalent is required. - Completion of a Peer Support Specialist certification program is preferred.

  • Experience: - Minimum of 1 year of experience in a mental health or substance use disorder setting. - Personal experience with recovery from mental health or substance use challenges is highly valued. - Experience working in a team-oriented environment, preferably in a behavioral health setting.
