Pathology Assistant

Performs quality control and quality assurance tests as required.

Demonstrated the ability to prioritize and triage specimens.

Recognizes testing errors/discrepancies or problems and notifies the appropriate personnel; assists with problem resolution.

Operates all instruments/equipment per accepted written procedures

Recognizes and identifies equipment problems and contacts appropriate technical service

Blood-borne Pathogen

• Exposure to infectious hazards, blood, body fluids, non-intact skin or tissue specimens.
• Contact with patient specimens is possible.

Education, Certification, Computer and Training Requirements

• Master’s Degree in Pathology Assistant (PA) or Medical Degree distinction, preferred. Bachelor’s Degree or a higher degree in a NAACLA accredited Pathologists' assistant program.
• PA (ASCP) and/or New York State Licensure as a Pathologist Assistant with a Bachelor's or higher degree from a Pathologist Assistants program, or equivalent program as determined by the New York State Education Department, preferred.
• Minimum of 2-4 years’ experience, 5-8 years preferred.
• Must have experience with a Laboratory Information System.

Pay Range

$37.69 - $47.12 Hourly

The provided compensation range is based on industry standards and salary determinations will be made based on numerous factors including but not limited to years of experience and location of position.
