Medical Imaging Specialist- OI Rockwall

Position Summary

The Medical Imaging Specialist is responsible for radiological and magnetic patient care from neonatal to geriatric ages. This position is responsible for related duties to provide quality care dictated by departmental and hospital policies and procedures.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS Minimum Education

• Graduate of an Accredited Radiology Program.

• Experience: Radiological experience necessary.

• Licenses/Certifications: Medical Rad Tech license through the Texas Medical Board. Additionally, must hold two advanced registries through ARRT or other recognized registry within one year of hire date. Must have current basic CPR certification.

• Abilities: Must have good working knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology and understand the principles of physics. Must possess the knowledge to obtain diagnostic quality images and setup and operate equipment safely. Preferred Qualification CT and MRI experience.

• Consistently uses proper warm-up procedures and QA functions on all equipment utilized.
• Correctly evaluates patient for oral and IV contrast media.
• 9.
• Correctly operates all exposure, processing, Meditech, patient support, MRI and Computed Radiography equipment.
• 10.
• Knows and applies radiation, MRI and ALARA safety precautions.
• 11.
• Helps transport patients to and from the department when needed.
• 12.
• Assists Radiologist during designated procedures.
• 13.
• Prepares patient history sheet specific to ordered examinations.
• 14.
• All other duties as assigned by supervisors and administrators.
• 15.
• Follows and improves, as necessary, all policies and procedures approved by HMHD and those specific for the MRI/CT department at each facility within the Hospital District.
• 16.
• Know and applies all MRI safety precautions.
• Completes competencies and annual training as required and assigned.
• 17.
• Know and applies all radiation safety precautions.
• Maintains ALARA principles when exposing patients to ionizing radiation in accordance to the Dose Management Policy.
• Completes competencies and annual training as required and assigned.
• 18.
• Performs other tasks and assists in other areas as assigned and needed by the Supervisor, Coordinator, Director and Assistant Director of Diagnostic Imaging and Radiologist or Administrator within our Hospital District.
• Performs any other tasks to fill the need of the department, hospital and its patients.
• 19.
• Correctly and consistently adheres to the DI department's contrast policy with all patients.
• Correctly prepares oral and IV contrast media.
• 20.
• Consistently transports patients to and from the department when needed.
• Assists in any area of the DI department according to the absences of co-workers, extra workloads and emergency need of others.
• 21.
• Uses proper lifting techniques and practices safety to ensure the protection of the patient, self, co-workers, hospital property and equipment at all times.
• 22.
• Consistently checks order requisition for completeness of information regarding the patient and the exam ordered.
• Verifies edits and follow change-order process appropriately with any discrepancies associated with the ordered exam.
• Performs Meditech and PACS functions to complete all tasks.
• 23.
• Maintains work area so that it is orderly, clean and stocked with the appropriate supplies and items needed to prepare the patient and room specific to imaging procedures performed.
• Follows and improves, as necessary, all policies and procedures approved by HMHD and those specific for the MRI/CT department at each facility within the Hospital District.
• Prompt and dependable when on MRI call.
• Consistently follows the HMHD's call policy.
