Position Summary

Clinic nurses provide and coordinate patient care, educate patients and the public about various health conditions, and provide advice and emotional support to patients and their family members. Responsible to work with providers to deliver high-quality and cost-effective personalized care to patients at the health center. Perform duties under the direction of the physician. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Appropriate training, direction, and guidance will be offered within the employee's scope of practice in order for the employee to competently perform duties assigned under the discretion of the supervising providers, managers, and executive team.

Health promotion-particularly smoking cessation and weight reduction

Duties include providing all services within a Family Practice setting. Specific duties would include, but are not limited to: taking patients back to exam rooms and preparing them for NP/PA/MD; take vitals (blood pressure, temperature, weight, etc.) and personal information a􀍭 needed; assist the NP/PA/MD whenever needed: give and record lab work and injections as ordered by NP/PA/MD; perform and document ear irrigations, 02 saturations. EKG's and x-ray duties, nebulizer treatments, urinary catheterizations, vaginal swabs, IV insertions. IV drug administrations, and IV maintenance under provider direction.

Be willing to train/perform the following laboratory procedures: venous and capillary blood draws; cultures and other specimens; urinalysis; throat culture; in-house rapid tests such as strep. influenza. pregnancy, etc.; fecal occult blood test; finger-stick glucose. and any other lab requested by NP/PA/MD.

Performance of the following routine procedures: make sure exam rooms comply with OSHA regulations; maintain separate container for medical waste and normal waste; change bandages; clean and sterilize instruments and other supplies; keep inventory and exam rooms stocked of all lab and medical supplies and reorder when necessary: check all medical equipment to ensure proper functioning is in order; maintain appropriate log books on all injections, X-ray., and EKG's performed; record past immunizations in patient's electronic medical record and tracking card; maintain a clean and sanitary environment; assist in the maintenance of the patient tracking and the return files.

Receive and conduct medical phone calls along with appropriate documentation.

Assist Receptionist with telephone. appointments and other minor office procedures when necessary.

Store all samples left by drug representatives, remove and destroy outdated sample􀍮.

Place referral calls when requested by NP/PA/MD.

Qualifications

  • Education/Experience
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Licensed RN in the State of Wyoming.
  • Have experience involving the use of clinical information programs.
  • Depending on clinic location and need, RN's will need to obtain IV certification.

Requirements

Must be a Licensed Registered Nurse in the State of Wyoming with a High School Diploma or GED. Experience with clinical information programs is required, and IV certification may be necessary depending on the location.
