The Bath Aide provides essential hygiene and personal care to residents, including bathing, grooming, and mobility assistance. They are also responsible for monitoring skin condition and documenting care to support the nursing staff.

Position Summary

A Bath Aide is responsible for assisting residents or patients with bathing, hygiene, and personal care needs. This role helps maintain residents' dignity, comfort, and overall health by ensuring proper hygiene and monitoring skin integrity. Essential

Duties & Responsibilities

Assist residents with bathing (bed bath, shower, tub, or whirlpool) while maintaining privacy and dignity Provide personal hygiene care including grooming, oral care, hair care, and skin care Observe and report changes in skin condition or overall health to nursing staff Assist residents with dressing and undressing Help with mobility, transfers, positioning, and transportation to bathing areas Maintain a clean, safe, and organized bathing environment Follow infection control, safety, and HIPAA policies Document care provided and communicate resident needs or concerns to nursing staff Additional Support Duties Assist with meals or hydration is expected with all meals Change linens and maintain resident rooms Assist with toileting and elimination needs is required Support residents' independence and emotional well-being

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent (preferred) CNA certification often required (varies by facility/state) CPR certification may be required Ability to safely lift, move, and assist residents Strong communication and interpersonal skills Skills & Competencies Compassion and patience Attention to detail Knowledge of infection control and safety practices Ability to maintain resident dignity and confidentiality Teamwork with nursing staff Work Environment Typically works in long-term care, hospital, or assisted living settings. The role requires physical activity including lifting, bending, and assisting residents. Purpose of Role The Bath Aide ensures residents are clean, comfortable, and treated with dignity while supporting nursing staff and contributing to overall quality of care. Expectations of the Role There are times when the bath aide will be utilized as an aide on the floor instead of the in the role of the bath aide. Monday-Friday, 6am-3:30pm

Requirements

A high school diploma is preferred, and CNA or CPR certifications may be required depending on the facility. Candidates must be physically capable of lifting and moving residents while maintaining strong communication skills.
