About the role

The Physician Assistant is responsible for assessing, diagnosing, and treating a diverse range of patients within a clinic setting. They provide healthcare services, educate patients on disease prevention, and collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure quality care.

We are looking for a responsible Full-Time Physician Assistant to support the doctors' work and actively facilitate patient care.

This individual will apply medical techniques and principles under the direction of a physician and will deal with a diverse set of patients while offering care and encouragement.

The ideal candidate is an intuitive healthcare professional whose diagnostic abilities are only matched by their concern for their patients.

The person in the Physician Assistant role will be responsible for meeting, assessing, and diagnosing patients in our clinic and providing them with healthcare services that meet state and national standards for caregiving.

The right candidate will have a passion for providing diagnostic services to patients and will enjoy working closely with other healthcare professionals in our organization.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze records, reports, test results, or examination information to diagnose the medical condition of the patient.
  • Treat internal disorders, such as hypertension, heart disease, diabetes, or problems of the lung, brain, kidney, or gastrointestinal tract.
  • Manage and treat common health problems, such as infections, influenza or pneumonia, as well as serious, chronic, and complex illnesses, in adolescents, adults, and the elderly.
  • Educate patients and their family members on diseases, epidemics, and prevention.
  • Explain procedures and discuss test results or prescribed treatments with patients.
  • Advise patients and community members concerning diet, activity, hygiene, and disease prevention.
  • Make diagnoses when different illnesses occur together or in situations where the diagnosis may be obscure.
  • Refer patients to medical specialists or other practitioners when necessary.
  • Collect, record, and maintain patient information, such as medical history, reports, or examination results.
  • Immunize patients to protect them from preventable diseases.

Requirements

  • 3 years minimum experience providing primary care and diagnostic services in a clinical setting.
  • Experience working in a team of healthcare professionals and collaborating with them to ensure positive, effective patient experiences with our organization.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • We are looking for a candidate with the following educational background and certifications:
  • Graduated from a regionally or nationally accredited PA program
  • Has an active PA-C certification

  • Communication skills. Physician assistants must explain complex medical issues in a way that patients can understand.
  • Compassion. Physician assistants deal with patients who are sick or injured and who may be in extreme pain or distress. They must be sympathetic toward and understanding of patients and their families.
  • Detail oriented. Physician assistants should be observant and have a strong ability to focus when evaluating and treating patients.
  • Emotional stability. Physician assistants, particularly those working in surgery or emergency medicine, should work well under pressure. They must remain calm in stressful situations in order to provide quality care.
  • Organizational skills. Good record keeping and other administrative skills are critical for individuals in this role.
  • Patience. Physician assistants must remain calm and tolerant when working with patients who need special attention, such as those who fear or ignore medical treatment.
  • Interpersonal skills. Physician assistants must work well as part of a team of other healthcare professionals to ensure proper patient care.
  • Problem-solving skills. Physician assistants need to evaluate patients' symptoms and administer the appropriate treatments. They must be diligent when investigating complicated medical issues so they can determine the best course of treatment for each patient.
