You will be responsible for assisting clients with their daily living activities, promoting independence, and ensuring their well-being. This position requires empathy, patience, and excellent interpersonal skills to establish trust and rapport with clients and their families.

Responsibilities

  • Provide personal care assistance to clients, including bathing, grooming, dressing, and toileting.
  • Assist clients with mobility and transfers, using appropriate techniques and equipment.
  • Support clients with their nutritional needs, including meal preparation and feeding assistance if required.
  • Administer medications under the direction and supervision of a registered nurse or licensed healthcare professional.
  • Perform light housekeeping tasks, such as laundry, washing dishes, and tidying living areas.
  • Monitor and report changes in clients' health status or behavior to the supervising nurse or healthcare provider.
  • Foster a safe and supportive environment for clients, ensuring their comfort and security at all times.
  • Provide companionship and emotional support to clients, engaging in meaningful interactions and activities.
  • Document all care provided accurately and timely in accordance with agency policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate effectively with the interdisciplinary healthcare team, including nurses, therapists, and social workers, to ensure coordinated care delivery.
  • Participate in ongoing training and educational opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in home health care practices.
  • Adhere to ethical and professional standards, maintaining confidentiality and respecting clients' rights and dignity.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Completion of a state-approved Home Health Aide training program preferred.
  • Certification as a Home Health Aide (HHA) Previous experience in home care, long-term care, or related healthcare settings preferred.
  • CPR and first aid certification preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with clients, families, and healthcare professionals.
  • Compassionate and empathetic attitude towards the needs of clients and their families.
  • Ability to follow care plans and instructions accurately and responsibly.
  • Reliable transportation and valid driver's license, if required to travel to clients' homes.
  • Ability to lift and move clients safely, as needed, using proper body mechanics and assistive devices.
  • Flexibility to work varying shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on client needs and scheduling requirements.

Physical Demands

Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and kneel for extended periods. Manual dexterity and physical stamina to perform tasks such as bathing, grooming, and light housekeeping.
