Olivia Hospital & Clinic is looking for a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our Emergency Medicine team. This is a 0.60 FTE part-time position supporting the Olivia Hospital & Clinic Emergency Medicine Department.

Oliva Hospital & Clinic is part of HealthPartners, a large health care organization spanning Minnesota and western Wisconsin. As a Nurse Practitioner and/or Physician Assistant, you will be part of HealthPartners care system. The position requires a current unrestricted medical license as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant. Must be comfortable working independently. A minimum of three years of emergency medicine experience is required.

Locations and work schedule

The primary work site for this position is Olivia Hospital & Clinic.

This position requires flexibility to work a variety of shift lengths, with assignments ranging from 12-hour to 72-hour shifts, based on departmental and patient care needs. Scheduling may include days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Assess patient to determine physical and emotional needs.
  • Obtains complete medical history and physical data on patients.
  • Orders appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures as needed.
  • Performs a complete physical exam and records findings.
  • Collaborates with physicians in managing acute and long-term medical needs of patients.
  • Synthesizes data to determine preliminary diagnosis and therapeutic plan utilizing principles of prevention.
  • Prescribes and administers medications and injections according to physician directions.
  • Maintains and reviews patient records, charts, and other pertinent information.
  • Posts tests and examination results.
  • Performs procedures approved within scope of practice and as instructed by physician.
  • Delegates care and makes appropriate referrals to specialties.
  • Respects physical privacy of patients.
  • Interviews and advises patients regarding health and illness prevention.
  • Provides patient education.
  • Instructs patients regarding medications and treatment instructions.
  • Establish patient specific goals that are consistent with the overall plan of care.
  • Networks with health team members by communicating data based on diagnosis to provide continuity of care.
  • Recommends community resources to meet patient and family needs.
  • Communicates changes in client status with provider and/or family members.
  • Modifies, implements, and evaluates individualized teaching plan in order to restore, maintain or promote health.
  • Collaborates with other health team members in intra/inter departmental issue recognition and resolution.
  • Gives pertinent and timely report to co-workers.
  • Ability to utilize electronic medical record effectively.
  • Documents accurately and legibly.

The area is also home to many neighboring county parks, including Mack Lake, Birch Coulee, Vicksburg and Lake Allie. Just an hour and a half west of the Twin Cities, Renville offers small-town charm while being accessible for day and weekend trips to Minneapolis/St. Paul.
