About the role

The Lab Assistant performs phlebotomy duties, including collecting samples and checking in patients. They are also responsible for processing, preparing, and shipping laboratory specimens to reference labs.

Overview The Laboratory Assistant works as a phlebotomist and a specimen processor. This position handles samples coming into the laboratory and also samples that need to be sent out to a reference lab.

Responsibilities

Assist in collecting samples, checking in patients, and other phlebotomy area duties. This duty is performed as daily. Take telephone messages and responds appropriately. Deliver, telephone, or fax reports. This duty is performed daily. Process and prepare in-coming samples, shipping of samples, add-ons, and storage. This duty is performed daily. Package samples for pick by our reference laboratory. Scan and maintain files of appropriate laboratory documents. This duty is performed daily. Be proficient in working with appropriate computer applications. This duty is performed daily.

Qualifications

  • Current phlebotomy certification is desirable.
