  • Summary: The Medical Assistant provides assistance to the Physician and Physician's Assistant with daily administrative and clinical duties.

  • Responsibilities: Increase patient satisfaction, compliance with schedule prep, voicemail, accurate end of day batching, compliance with time stamping, compliance with clinical policies and procedures, wait times, timeliness and accuracy with pre certs and authorizations.

Responsibilities

Greets patients in the waiting room and escorts them to the exam room. Directs patient to surgery scheduling and/or front desk for checkout. Maintains order, cleanliness, and inventory in the exam room, and prepares exam room for patients to enter. Cleans and autoclaves instruments. Provides and scans proper paperwork into the chart for Physician's review. Records vitals per Physician's request. Prepares injections for the Physician. Pulls up x-rays, MRI's, CT's, and various studies pertaining to the patient's exam. Assists patient with clothing when necessary. Disposes of bio hazardous waste and sharps according to OSHA regulation, and replaces sharps containers when existing containers are full. Answers telephones in patient areas. Requests reports for various facilities for Physicians. Empties and restocks laundry. Scans appointment tracking to identify when patients are ready to be seen by the Physician and directs Physician in patient appointment order. Reviews Physician schedules for chart preparation including ensuring operative reports, dictations, and studies are present in the chart. Completes pre-certifications for MRI's, injectable, and other Physician orders as necessary. Scans information into patient record (including all Physician orders, prescriptions, etc. on the date of service.) Send Visco Injection authorization request to supplement pre-certification representative Covers other areas in the office when not assigned to a Physician. Attends required meetings and participates on committees as requested. Exemplifies the desired culture and philosophies of the organization.

Qualifications

HS Diploma or GED minimum education requirement CCMA or CRMA not required, but nice to have Medical office procedures and medical terminology knowledge Computer skills including, but not limited to, MS Office Office Hours: Monday - Friday: 8:00am - 4:30pm Total Hours per Week: 40 Status: Permanent Projected Start: As soon as available Pay Range: $16.00/hr - $24.00/hr Our Commitment to Employees: Come work at Rothman Orthopaedics! Requirements

A high school diploma or GED is the minimum education requirement. Knowledge of medical office procedures, medical terminology, and MS Office skills are required, while CCMA or CRMA certifications are preferred.
