Our Intensive Care Units at GW Hospital

Medical

ICU (MICU): High-complexity patients requiring advanced critical care interventions.

Surgical

ICU (SICU): Specializing in trauma, neuro, and post-operative intensive care.

Cardiovascular

ICU (CVICU): Advanced cardiac support including open-heart surgery recovery and ECMO therapy. Job Summary Are you a dedicated and experienced Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Registered Nurse seeking an exciting opportunity in the heart of Washington, D.C.? The George Washington University Hospital invites passionate and skilled nurses to join our renowned healthcare team. Responsibilities

Patient Care: Deliver compassionate and evidence-based nursing care to critically ill patients in the Intensive Care Unit.

Monitoring

Utilize advanced monitoring technology to assess and interpret vital signs, cardiac rhythms, and other relevant data. Respond promptly to changes in patient status.

Collaboration

Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team, including physicians, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare professionals, to ensure comprehensive and effective patient care.

Critical

Thinking: Apply advanced critical thinking skills in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care plans for complex medical conditions.

Advocacy

Serve as an advocate for patients and their families, providing emotional support and ensuring their needs are met throughout the care journey.

Documentation

Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, including nursing assessments, interventions, and outcomes.

Education

Provide patient and family education on medical conditions, treatment plans, and post-discharge care.

Quality

Improvement: Actively participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and contribute to the ongoing improvement of nursing practices within the ICU.

Qualifications

  • BSN or currently enrolled.

Requirements
