About the role

Provide high-standard emergency and outpatient care to patients at Mizell Memorial Hospital. Responsibilities include assisting with medical procedures, managing supplies, and maintaining emergency equipment like crash carts.

Description Job Summary

This position has the responsibility to work under the supervisor and the ER Manager to provide the maximum standards of care to all patients who present to Mizell Memorial Hospital for emergency and/or outpatient care. Assisting with procedures and activities scheduled on outpatients daily such as; x-rays, OR procedures, etc. Must keep a good working relationship with outside facilities and/or agencies to promote quality patient care. 1. Check and order supplies as needed daily. 2. Check crash cart, defibrillator and other code equipment – sign off check list. 3. Other duties and positions as assigned by supervisor.

Reports to ER Manager No Supervisory Responsibility

Requirements

Education/Experience: Graduated from an accredited school of nursing with a minimum of an Associate’s in Nursing. 2 years of Nursing experience preferred. At least 1 year of emergency experience required. License/Certification: Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Alabama. Must be Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certified. Must maintain CEUs consistent with requirements of Alabama Board of Nursing. Completion of Critical Care course/Trauma Nurse Core course desirable.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

The work environment characteristics described are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Works inside under normal temperature conditions with adequate light, in a well ventilated, clean area; some areas are limited in space; usually works around others; must expect some moderate noise. Position requires sitting for 25% of the workday and mobility 75% of the workday. There is frequent stopping, bending, kneeling, and crouching. There is frequent reaching, use of hands and receptive action. Requires occasional lifting or carrying up to 25 pounds, pushing/pulling up to 50 pounds. There is a continuous need for speaking with clear diction and hearing sensitivity on conversation either by phone or in person. Continuous visual acuity at close and distant range. Occasional exposure to electrical shock. Conditions of work may involve exposure to communicable diseases and on-the-job injuries. Some exposure to hazardous chemicals. Occasional exposure to radiation. This position has an OSHA Category I level of exposure to blood and body substances. Category I tasks are all procedures or other job-related tasks involving an inherent potential for mucous membrane or skin contact with blood, body fluids or body tissues or a potential for spills or splashes with blood, body fluids or tissues. Use of appropriate protective measure is required for every employee engaged in Category I tasks.
