The registered nurse provides and coordinates nursing care for Internal Medicine patients, including those with chronic pain. Key duties include triaging patients, documenting care plans, and educating patients and families on disease processes and preventative health.
Within the context of the Hennepin Healthcare System Relationship-Based Care practice model, and under general supervision, the registered nurse provides and coordinates nursing care by: Protecting, promoting wellness and optimizing health Triaging patients by assessing severity of symptoms and referral to appropriate setting or level of care Alleviating suffering through the treatment of the human response Partnering with the patient, their family and significant others Documenting interventions and an individualized plan of care Educating patient on their disease process Assuring continuity of care Educating patient and family in preventative care which promotes health and well being
Graduation from an accredited school of nursing Possession of a valid license as a Registered Nurse issued by the State of Minnesota One year of ambulatory experience in a primary clinic setting (within the last three years) One year of nursing experience in ambulatory caring for patients with chronic pain Proficiency with EPIC Inbasket (patient correspondence/message management)
Certification in area of clinical specialty BSN Preferred. Bachelor of Nursing degree is strongly encouraged. Advancement in academic education will be discussed as part of individual professional development during the annual performance review.
Candidates must be a licensed Registered Nurse in Minnesota with at least one year of ambulatory clinic experience and specific experience in chronic pain care. Proficiency with EPIC Inbasket is required, while a BSN and specialty certification are preferred.
