Support Services of Virginia is seeking Community Engagement DSPs to provide community-based services to individuals with developmental disabilities throughout Coastal Virginia, including Hampton, Newport News, Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, Portsmouth, Suffolk, Poquoson, Williamsburg, York County, Gloucester, Mathews, Accomack County, Northampton County (Eastern Shore), and surrounding areas. We are looking for people who are friendly and positive, open minded and flexible, engaged in the community, and like to be active. As a Community Engagement DSP, you will support people in finding a balance between what is important to and important for them to help them live the lives of their choosing.
In this role, you will focus on community engagement services, which support and foster an individual’s ability to acquire, retain, or improve skills related to positive social behavior, interpersonal competence, independence, and personal choice. A key responsibility is helping individuals locate, introduce, and facilitate community relationships, while using the community as a learning environment to build natural supports and encourage growth and inclusion.
We are hiring for flexible hours, including day and possibly weekend shifts.
Community Engagement DSPs start at $14.50–$15.50 per hour. After completing training and receiving medication certification clearance, you may be eligible for a wage increase. All certifications must be verified.

Requirements: · Proof of highest level of education
· Able to pass criminal/registry background checks and tuberculosis screening
· Ability to maintain First Aid/CPR/AED Certification, Medicaid Waiver Certification, and Direct Support Professional Core Competencies
· Valid driver's license
Reliable personal vehicle available for work-related travel with proof of automobile insurance that includes business use coverage.
· Strong communication and time management skills
· Able to work independently with minimal supervision
· Willing to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays
