Position Summary

The Physician provides comprehensive primary medical care for patients across the lifespan by evaluating, diagnosing, treating, and managing acute and chronic health conditions. Working as part of an integrated healthcare team, the Physician delivers evidence-based, patient-centered care while promoting prevention, wellness, and improved health outcomes. This position develops individualized treatment plans, prescribes medications and therapies, coordinates specialty referrals, performs procedures within the scope of practice, and participates in quality improvement initiatives that support exceptional patient care. Essential Responsibilities Provide comprehensive primary medical care, including preventive, acute, and chronic disease management. Obtain patient histories, perform physical examinations, and order, interpret, and communicate diagnostic testing. Develop individualized treatment plans and prescribe medications in accordance with Wisconsin law and accepted standards of practice. Perform office-based procedures and minor surgical procedures within the scope of practice. Coordinate referrals and collaborate with specialists and community partners to ensure continuity of care. Educate patients and families regarding disease prevention, treatment plans, medications, and healthy lifestyle choices. Maintain timely, accurate, and complete documentation within the electronic health record. Meet established quality metrics, documentation standards, and productivity expectations, including Uniform Data System (UDS) requirements. Participate in peer review, quality improvement initiatives, provider meetings, and infection prevention activities. Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to provide coordinated, whole-person care. Supervise Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, and medical learners as assigned. Support community outreach and represent NEWCC in activities that advance our mission.

Qualifications

Education & Experience Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO). Completion of an accredited residency program in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or another appropriate specialty. Three (3) years of clinical practice experience preferred. Experience in a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), community health center, or underserved setting is preferred. Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills are a plus. Preferred Skills Experience using Epic electronic health records preferred. Strong clinical judgment and commitment to evidence-based medicine. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary healthcare team. Commitment to patient-centered care, continuous improvement, and health equity. Licensure & Certifications Current unrestricted Wisconsin Physician (MD or DO) license. Current DEA registration. Board Certified or Board Eligible in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or another approved specialty. Physicians who are Board Eligible at hire must obtain Board Certification within three (3) years. Current Basic Life Support (BLS)/CPR certification. Requirements

Candidates must hold an MD or DO degree, complete an accredited residency, and possess a valid Wisconsin physician license and DEA registration. Board certification in Family or Internal Medicine is required or must be obtained within three years.
