The Full-time Nightshift Caregiver at The Courtyard at Newark plays a vital role in providing compassionate and attentive care to residents during overnight hours.

This position ensures the safety, comfort, and well-being of individuals by assisting with daily living activities, monitoring health status, and responding promptly to any emergencies or needs that arise during the night.

The caregiver fosters a supportive and respectful environment, promoting dignity and independence for each resident.

Collaboration with the daytime care team and healthcare professionals is essential to maintain continuity of care and accurate documentation.

Ultimately, this role contributes significantly to the overall quality of life for residents by delivering personalized and reliable care and basic cleaning throughout the night shift.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in caregiving or a related healthcare role, preferably in a long-term care or assisted living setting.
  • Ability to work overnight shifts consistently and reliably.
  • Basic knowledge of personal care techniques and safety protocols.
  • Certification in CPR and First Aid.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification or equivalent.
  • Experience working with elderly or disabled populations.
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Additional training in dementia or Alzheimer’s care.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct personal care to residents, including assistance with bathing, dressing, toileting, and mobility during the night shift.
  • Monitor residents’ physical and emotional well-being, promptly reporting any changes or concerns to nursing staff or supervisors.
  • Ensure a safe environment by performing regular safety checks and responding quickly to emergencies or resident calls.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of care provided, incidents, and resident observations in compliance with facility policies.
  • Support residents with medication reminders and assist with meals or hydration as needed during the night.
  • Communicate effectively with residents, families, and the healthcare team to ensure coordinated and compassionate care.
  • Assist with light housekeeping duties related to resident rooms to maintain cleanliness and comfort.

Skills

  • The required skills such as personal care techniques and safety awareness are applied daily to ensure residents receive respectful and effective assistance with their needs during the night.
  • CPR and First Aid certifications enable the caregiver to respond confidently and competently to medical emergencies.
