Duties and Responsibilities

The Radiologic Technologist is an entry-level imaging professional responsible for performing routine diagnostic radiographic examinations under the general supervision of a Radiologist and departmental leadership. This position provides safe, compassionate, and patient-centered care while producing high-quality diagnostic images in accordance with physician orders, departmental protocols, and regulatory standards. The Radiologic Technologist I develops technical proficiency by applying foundational radiographic knowledge, maintaining patient safety, and adhering to established imaging protocols. This role collaborates with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams while demonstrating a commitment to quality, safety, infection prevention, radiation safety, and exceptional customer service within a California acute-care hospital. Perform routine diagnostic radiographic examinations in accordance with physician orders, departmental protocols, and established standards of practice. Verify patient identity, examination orders, and procedural requirements using approved patient safety and identification protocols. Prepare patients for imaging procedures by explaining examinations, addressing routine questions, and providing age-appropriate patient education. Position patients accurately using appropriate anatomical landmarks and imaging techniques to obtain diagnostic-quality images while maintaining patient comfort and dignity. Operate fixed radiographic equipment safely and efficiently while following departmental operating procedures and manufacturer guidelines. Apply ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) principles by utilizing appropriate shielding, exposure techniques, and radiation safety practices to minimize patient and staff radiation exposure. Performs and assists physicians during routine fluoroscopic and diagnostic procedures by preparing equipment, maintaining sterile technique, and anticipating procedural needs under supervision. Monitor patient condition during imaging procedures and promptly report changes or concerns to the appropriate licensed healthcare provider. Accurately document patient information, imaging procedures, radiation dose information, and examination results within the electronic medical record (EMR), Radiology Information System (RIS), and Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS). Clean, inspect, stock, and maintain imaging rooms, equipment, and supplies to support efficient department operations and infection prevention standards. Perform routine quality control checks on imaging equipment and immediately report equipment malfunctions or safety concerns to department leadership. Collaborate effectively with radiologists, nurses, transport personnel, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to support coordinated patient care and efficient workflow. Participate in orientation, continuing education, competency assessments, mandatory training, and departmental meetings to maintain clinical knowledge and professional development. VARIABLE SHIFT INCLUDING WEEKENDS

Qualifications

Educational Requirements: Bachelor's in Science Degree, Radiological Technology preferred Minimum of an Associate's in Science Degree, Radiological Technology License/Certifications: BLS through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross required Minimum Certified by the State of California to practice and administer radiation - Registered Radiologic Technologist CRT Minimum Certified by the State of California to practice and administer – Fluoroscopy Minimum Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists ARRT certification Experience: Radiologic technologist experience in a clinical setting preferred

Requirements

Requires an Associate's degree in Radiological Technology and certifications from the State of California and ARRT. BLS certification and fluoroscopy certification are mandatory.
