About the role

The University of Maryland Faculty Physicians, Inc. is currently seeking an Ambulatory Care Registered Nurse to support faculty practices within the Department of Neurosurgery at the University of Maryland Medical Center.

The Ambulatory Care Registered Nurse plays a key role in supporting the efficient flow of patient care within a busy cranial neurosurgery practice. This position is responsible for coordinating the movement of new patients through the cranial practice, triaging incoming patient calls for cranial surgeons, and responding appropriately to ensure timely, high-quality care.

The Ambulatory Care Registered Nurse works closely with neurosurgeons and other providers to support coordinated, interdisciplinary patient care, ensuring continuity across the treatment process. This role also includes administrative responsibilities related to outpatient care coordination, helping to streamline communication between patients, providers, and support staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the flow of new patients through the practice
  • Triage incoming patient phone calls for cranial surgeons and respond appropriately
  • Collaborate with neurosurgeons and other providers to ensure seamless, coordinated patient care
  • Support high-quality clinical outcomes through close partnership with the neurosurgical team
  • Perform administrative tasks related to outpatient patient coordination
  • Facilitate interdisciplinary communication to support comprehensive patient care

Utilizes a collaborative process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation to engage, educate, promote, and maintain optimal health status of assigned patients. Functions in a collaborative partnership with the patient, physician, and the care team in an ambulatory care setting. Serves in an advocacy role to ensure the delivery of quality, efficient, and cost-effective patient centered health care services; and other duties as assigned.

  • EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's Degree, Associate's Degree, or diploma in Nursing from an accredited institution
  • Current Maryland licensure or eligibility to obtain Maryland licensure
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Two to three years clinical experience preferred
  • CPR certification is required
  • Total Rewards The referenced base salary range represents the low and high end of University of Maryland’s Faculty Physician’s Inc. salary range for this position.
  • Some candidates will not be eligible for the upper end of the salary range.
  • Exact salary will ultimately depend on multiple factors, which may include the successful candidate's geographic location, skills, work experience, market conditions, internal equity, responsibility factor and span of control, education/training and other qualifications.

Requirements

Candidates must have a nursing degree (Associate's, Bachelor's, or diploma) and a current or eligible Maryland nursing license. CPR certification is required, and two to three years of clinical experience is preferred.
