CSU’s Veterinary Teaching Hospital is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to support the Small Animal Blood Bank. The assistant will play a vital role in facilitating safe, compassionate donor appointments and assists with blood product processing. This role supports patient care throughout the hospital by providing life-saving red blood cell and plasma products. Key responsibilities include animal handling, communicating with pet owners, record keeping, and learning technical aspects of blood product processing and storage.

Brief Work Unit Description Veterinary Blood Bank – CSU Veterinary Health System
Helps maintain organization of the blood bank service by stocking supplies and organizing donor food stores. Performs duties with the goal of supporting operational and business needs.
Schedule: Ability to work 3-5 shifts per week, Monday–Friday, between 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and assist with animal handling.
Must adhere to hospital safety and animal handling protocols.

HS Diploma or GED Previous work experience in a veterinary or animal care setting. Basic organizational skills and attention to detail. Willingness to work within a collaborative team environment.
Experienced animal restraint skills for dogs and cats in a clinical setting. Excellent communication skills when interacting with team members and pet owners. Experience with record keeping and data entry in a clinical environment. Interested in learning about veterinary transfusion medicine and blood product handling.
