About the role

Provide individualized direct care and personal assistance to people with developmental and intellectual disabilities. Support clients in achieving independence through community engagement and help with daily household chores.

Direct Support Professional (DSP) *Higher Needs Location*

Harry Meyering Center supports people with developmental and intellectual disabilities in their homes and community.

Job Purpose

Join our team as a Direct Support Professional and help individuals with developmental disabilities achieve greater independence while receiving the support they need to thrive. This role includes assisting with personal cares, encouraging daily growth, and participating in meaningful activities at home and in the community. Due to the higher level of individualized support required, this position offers an enhanced pay rate. The individuals supported in this location may require more frequent hands-on assistance with daily routines and personal cares.

Wage

$19.00 per hour for full-time employees + $1 shift differential for direct care hours worked. $18.00 per hour for part-time employees + $1 shift differential for direct care hours worked.

Location

Multiple locations in the Mankato, MN area.

Schedule

Flexible 8–40 hours/week, including every other weekend and some holidays. Shifts are available across mornings, afternoons, and evenings.

Qualifications

Must be at least 18 years of age and have a high school diploma or general education degree. Willingness to learn. Ability to perform tasks with attention to detail and accuracy. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work well in a team environment and independently. Good communication skills. Must hold a valid United States driver's license and pass a driving record check conducted by our insurance carrier unless otherwise noted. Must pass the MN Department of Human Services Background Study Prior experience or training is not required, but having experience as a CNA, PCA, Caregiver, DSP, or healthcare-related professional is preferred.

What You’ll Do

Provide direct care for others in an individualized and meaningful way. Assist in personal cares. Engage in community activities, i.e., bowling, shopping, watching a movie or exercising. Complete daily direct care such as bathing, toileting, feeding, and dressing. Complete household chores such as cooking, cleaning, and laundry. Maintain HIPAA Compliance in all communications to HMC, whether written or verbal, external and internal. Follow all health and safety policies and procedures. Other duties as assigned.
