Summary As a registered nurse (RN), you are expected to consistently deliver the best in care and customer service and to demonstrate respect, dignity, kindness, and empathy in each encounter with our patients, their families, visitors, and with each other. As part of the health care team, RNs assume primary accountability for nursing coordination and the provision of individualized care for patients of all ages. The registered nurse utilizes delegation and critical‑thinking skills to provide quality service through a team‑oriented, collaborative approach to patient care.
In the PACU setting, the RN is responsible for the immediate post‑operative care of patients recovering from anesthesia and surgical or procedural interventions. Duties include continuous assessment and monitoring of airway patency, respiratory and cardiovascular status, level of consciousness, pain, and surgical sites. The PACU RN collaborates closely with anesthesia providers, surgeons, and the interdisciplinary team to ensure safe patient recovery, readiness for discharge or transfer, and effective patient and family education regarding post‑operative expectations and care.

Current Registered Nurse license in the Commonwealth of Virginia required or eligibility to obtain licensure required.
AHA BLS-HCP required. Additional certifications such as ACLS, PALS, or NRP may be required based on assigned work area.
Keyboarding skills and computer literacy required, including use of electronic medical records. For Behavioral Health roles, must demonstrate ability to safely manage disruptive or potentially violent patients.
