North Dallas Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Hospital (ND VESH), Located in Frisco, TX, is a 13,000+ square foot state-of-the-art facility that provides advanced emergency and specialty services in a collaborative hospital environment. Technicians work closely with Emergency, Critical Care, Surgery, and Specialty teams while gaining exposure to complex medical cases, advanced procedures, and cutting-edge nephrology and urology services.

Job Description

As a Critical Care Veterinary Technician, you will play an essential role in delivering advanced, life-saving care to critically ill and injured patients in a fast-paced specialty and emergency environment. Working alongside veterinarians and a highly skilled medical team, you will utilize your technical expertise, critical thinking abilities, and compassionate approach to help ensure the best possible outcomes for patients and their families.

Responsibilities

Providing comprehensive nursing care to hospitalized patients, including administering medications and treatments, monitoring vital signs, managing intravenous catheters and fluid therapy, performing diagnostic sample collection, and responding promptly to changes in patient condition. Closely monitoring critically ill patients requiring intensive care, including those recovering from surgery, experiencing trauma, respiratory distress, neurologic emergencies, sepsis, or other complex medical conditions. Assisting veterinarians with advanced procedures and diagnostics, including imaging, blood transfusions, oxygen therapy, CPR, and emergency interventions as needed. Delivering compassionate, attentive care to patients while ensuring their comfort, cleanliness, and overall well-being throughout their hospitalization. Providing empathetic support and clear communication to pet owners during stressful situations, helping them understand treatment plans, patient progress, and medical updates while fostering trust and confidence in the care team. Maintaining accurate, thorough, and timely medical records to ensure seamless communication among team members and compliance with hospital protocols. Collaborating closely with veterinarians, specialists, technicians, assistants, and client service representatives to provide exceptional patient care and support positive patient outcomes. Prioritizing and managing multiple cases effectively in a dynamic environment while maintaining a high standard of medical excellence and attention to detail. Upholding hospital standards for patient safety, infection control, equipment maintenance, and treatment area organization. Contributing to a positive, team-oriented culture through mentorship, knowledge sharing, and a commitment to continuous learning and professional development.

Qualifications

Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT/CVT/RVT) preferred. Experienced Veterinary Technicians with a minimum of two years of veterinary experience are encouraged to apply. Emergency, specialty, or critical care experience preferred. Strong technical skills including venipuncture, catheter placement, medication administration, and patient monitoring. Knowledge of anesthesia monitoring, radiology safety, fluid therapy, and emergency patient care. Excellent communication, teamwork, and organizational skills. Demonstrated leadership abilities and commitment to fostering a positive team culture. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced emergency environment. Fluent English speaking and reading skills required; multilingual candidates are encouraged to apply.
