About the role

Provide direct care to adult medical-surgical patients, including assessments, medication administration, and documentation in Meditech EMR. Float between Medical, Laulima (surgical), and Cardiovascular units to assist with procedures and patient needs.

Overview Registered Nurse – Med Surg, travel assignment in Hilo, Hawaii.

This 13-week assignment starts on 08/24/2026 in an inpatient hospital setting with a 12-hour day shift (0645–1915).

Weekly pay ranges from $1,863 to $2,006 per week.

There are no guaranteed minimum hours.

The role includes floating to multiple medical and surgical units as needed, with orientation provided for each unit.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care to adult medical-surgical patients per physician orders; perform ongoing assessments, vitals monitoring, and medication administration with accurate documentation
  • Document in the Meditech EMR and ensure accurate handoffs during unit transfers
  • Float to Medical Unit, Laulima Unit (surgical Acute), and occasionally Cardiovascular Unit as patient needs change
  • Assist with procedures and continuous care needs, including wound care, wound vac management, and chest tube care as applicable
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team, respond to call lights, and maintain patient safety and infection prevention standards

Requirements

  • Hawaii RN license active by start date (travelers not in possession of HI license must apply and obtain prior to start)
  • BLS and ACLS required; additional certifications (PALS, Procedural Sedation, TNCC, ENPC) preferred - 2–10 years of RN experience
  • Ability to float to multiple units and adapt to varying patient acuity
  • Proficient with Meditech EMR and common unit equipment (pyxis, wound vac, chest tubes)
  • Must arrive the Thursday before start to complete employee health requirements
