Responsibilities

  • Plan and provide total patient care using the nursing process (assess, plan, implement, evaluate) for Med Surg patients.
  • Direct and guide patient teaching and activities of ancillary personnel while maintaining professional nursing standards.
  • Monitor patient status, recognize changes, administer medications per policy, and respond to emergencies as needed.
  • Collaborate with the health care team to coordinate care, ensure safe patient outcomes, and document accurately.
  • Maintain infection prevention, safety protocols, and compliance with relevant policies.
  • Communicate effectively with patients and families to support understanding of diagnoses, treatments, and discharge planning.

Requirements

  • Current Iowa RN license; graduate of an accredited nursing program.
  • BCLS and ACLS required (American Heart Association).
  • Experience preferred, but not required.
  • Ability to work full-time 12-hour night shifts (Fri/Sat/Sun, 6:00 pm–6:00 am) in a hospital setting.
  • Must meet health and employment requirements prior to start as specified by the facility (immunizations, background checks, and related verifications).
