About the role

Coordinate and provide professional nursing care for psychiatric patients using evidence-based practices. Assess admission appropriateness and serve as an educational resource for patients, families, and medical staff.

Summary of Performance Expectations.

Accountable for the coordination and provision of professional nursing care appropriate to the age of the patient applying evidence-based nursing practice.

Assesses the appropriateness of admission and treatment plan based upon clinical norms and judgment.

Collaborates with other health care professionals and agencies to meet the needs of our customers.

Accountable for input into departmental and patient outcomes.

Serves as an educational resource to the patient, patient’s family, physicians, administration and medical center staff related to the psychiatric program.

Education and Credentials

Required

Graduate of accredited nursing program.

Current NC RN license or licensure from Nursing Compact State.

BCLS certification. If the BCLS certification is not from the American Heart Association (AHA), an AHA certification is required within three months of employment date.

Crisis Intervention Certification within three months of employment date and renewed at least bi-annually for the first year and annually thereafter.

Preferred

Experience in coordination of clinical care. Bachelor’s degree in Nursing. Specialty certification in area of practice or written agreement with Director is developed to obtain within two years of agreement.

Work Experience

Required

Six months of work experience in area of practice. Incumbent should be proficient in the basic aspects of the job and able to assume call responsibilities as required within three months.

Preferred

One year work experience in area of practice.
