Responsibilities

The Health Unit Coordinator/Nursing Assistant (HUC NA) has a dual focus, a combination of the Health Unit Coordinator (HUC) and Nursing Assistant (NA) roles. They serve as a member of the interdisciplinary patient care team. The HUC NA supports patients with activities of daily living and performs patient care skills as delegated by the licensed nurse within the Ohio Board of Nursing Scope of Practice. The HUC NA also collaborates with unit leadership in coordinating the day-to-day activities of the patient care unit. This includes the processing of patient records and ongoing communication with nursing staff, physicians, and interdepartmental personnel. The HUC NA serves as a resource for physicians and other members of the health care team for the electronic medical record. The HUC NA is responsible for maintaining and demonstrating knowledge, skill, and ability of the delegated tasks. The HUC NA also supports department operational needs, and performs other duties as assigned. The HUC NA reports to the Clinical Nurse Manager.

Qualifications

Applicants Must Have: Successful completion of KH Health Coordinator training upon hire into role Successful completion of KH Nursing Assistant Orientation upon hire into role Certification in CPR/BLS Must have one of the following: Six months experience as a nursing assistant in a hospital or a long-term care facility Completion of Nursing Assistant course in the last six months Nursing student or listed as pre-nursing as shown on transcripts Current employee with Kettering Health

Requirements

Applicants must have CPR/BLS certification and either six months of nursing assistant experience, completion of a nursing assistant course, or be a nursing student. Successful completion of internal KH training is required upon hire.
