About the role

Provide mental health assessments, therapeutic services, and crisis intervention to stabilize and improve the functioning of clients. Responsibilities include conducting biopsychosocial evaluations and implementing solution-focused counseling in home, school, and community settings.

Description New Horizons is the largest mental health and addiction recovery provider on the Treasure Coast (and beyond), serving 15,000 children and adults annually through inpatient crisis services, 24-hour help line and mobile response team, and outpatient programs conveniently located across Indian River, Martin, Okeechobee and St. Lucie counties. In addition, New Horizons assists 22,000 students in area schools, and we work closely with the courts, law enforcement, jails, and hospitals to help improve the health of individuals and the quality of life in our community.

New Horizons is seeking a caring and compassionate community-based therapist on our Children’s Community Action (CAT) Team. This role will provide mental health assessments, therapeutic services, crisis intervention, and/or any other identified clinical services deemed necessary to stabilize and improve the functioning of individuals served.

As a Sr. Mental Health Practitioner, your responsibilities will include

Engaging in hours of direct client services for assigned clients at the rate determined to meet contractual and clinical obligations Conducting biopsychosocial evaluations for new and existing clients as assigned Developing and maintaining a written treatment plan for each client Conducting individual, multi-client and family counseling Practicing a brief, solution focused counseling strategy in the home, school, and community settings

Requirements

MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Master's degree from an accredited university or college with a major in the field of counseling, social work, psychology, nursing, rehabilitation, special education, health education, or a related human services field. Licensure NOT required. Two years professional experience providing services to persons with behavioral health disorders preferred Master’s level clinicians hired after July 1, 2014 with degrees other than social work, psychology, marriage and family therapy, or mental health counseling must have completed graduate level coursework in specified content areas. Must have a valid Florida Driver's License with 6 points or less in the last 5 years Must pass Level 2 Background through DCF and AHCA Clearinghouse.
