Job Title: Patient Care Technician (PCT)/Unit Secretary This is a split shift position 2 days/ 1 night Full Time (3days x 12-hour shifts) Tele 4 is a 10-bed telemetry unit. This unit specializes in general medical surgical and telemetry patients such as but not limited to pneumonia, ESRD, Stroke, CHF and chest pain patients. Post-operative patients such as GU, Urology, Orthopedics, Bariatrics, Heart Cath/PCI. The population has multiple co-morbidities and complex care. The patient population is admitted / transferred from ICU, ED and PACU. Tele 3 is a 22-bed telemetry unit. This unit specializes in general medical surgical and telemetry patients such as but not limited to pneumonia, ESRD, Stroke CHF and chest pain patients. Post-operative patients such as GU, Urology, Orthopedics, Bariatrics, Heart Cath/PCI. The population has multiple co-morbidities and complex care. The patient population is admitted / transferred from ICU, ED and PACU.
Monitor Tech/Patient Care Technician (PCT)/Unit Secretary Under the direction and supervision of a registered nurse (RN) or other licensed care team member, the PCT/Unit Secretary provides direct and indirect patient care. In addition, unit secretaries play a vital role in maintaining efficient operations within hospital units by providing administrative support and ensuring effective communication between staff and patients. Performs direct patient care and related tasks as outlined by scope of practice and including but not limited to: Assist patients in personal hygiene activities such as bathing, dental and oral care, hair, and nail care. Assist patients with bowel and bladder functions while maintaining dignity. Records patient intake and output (I & O). Collects, labels, and transports specimens for laboratory analysis. Assist patients with activity, turning and repositioning as indicated by provider order and in collaboration with the nurse. Communicates pertinent patient information/findings to patient’s nurse. Prepare patients, equipment, and supplies for specific procedures and provide manual assistance as needed. Escort or transport patients to various hospital locations while maintaining patient safety. Clean assigned area; stock and replenish supplies and equipment as directed. Answers signal lights, bells, or intercom system immediately to determine patients’ needs and assures needs are addressed in a timely manner. Accesses additional assistance as indicated to meet patient needs. Ensures positive customer relations interactions. Responds promptly to customer needs, both patient and visitors Responds to requests for service and assistance in a positive manner.
Current Kentucky Nurse Aide Certification required or successful completion of first year of a Nursing program and validation of a clinical rotation consistent with level of education. High School Diploma or equivalent Basic Life Support (must be obtained within 30 days of hire)
