Job Overview AIMS Locum Tenens is seeking a qualified General Dentist to provide comprehensive dental services to eligible military beneficiaries at Pope Dental Clinic, Pope Army Airfield, North Carolina. The General Dentist will deliver preventive, diagnostic, restorative, and emergency dental care while working as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.

Specific Duties

  • Perform comprehensive oral examinations and evaluate patients for dental diseases, abnormalities, injuries, and oral health conditions.
  • Interpret dental radiographs, diagnostic tests, and clinical findings to establish accurate diagnoses and treatment plans.
  • Provide preventive dental services including examinations, cleanings, fluoride treatments, patient education, and oral disease prevention.
  • Perform restorative procedures including fillings, crowns, bridges, and treatment of fractured or defective teeth.
  • Perform routine oral surgery procedures, including uncomplicated extractions and management of dental infections.
  • Perform endodontic procedures within the scope of clinical privileges.
  • Provide periodontal evaluation and treatment, including scaling and root planning when appropriate.
  • Diagnose and manage dental emergencies, infections, trauma, and acute pain.
  • Prescribe medications related to dental treatment, pain management, and infection control as clinically indicated.
  • Maintain complete, accurate, and timely documentation in electronic dental records.
  • Collaborate with dentists, dental hygienists, dental assistants, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care.

Qualifications

Degree:

  • Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD).

Education

• Graduate from a dental school accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) of the American Dental Association (ADA).

Certification

  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Board Eligible or Board Certified in General Dentistry.

Experience

  • Experience sufficient to meet Defense Health Agency credentialing and privileging requirements.
  • Previous military, federal, hospital, or group practice experience is preferred.

Licensure

Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice dentistry in any U.S. state, territory, or the District of Columbia.

Eligible to obtain and maintain DEA registration.

Must be eligible for credentialing and clinical privileges at the Military Treatment Facility.

U.S. Citizenship required.

Skills and Abilities

  • Strong clinical knowledge of general dentistry and oral disease management.
  • Ability to diagnose and develop comprehensive treatment plans.
  • Proficiency in preventive, restorative, prosthodontic, periodontal, endodontic, and minor oral surgery procedures.
  • Ability to interpret dental radiographs and diagnostic imaging.
  • Strong clinical judgment and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.

Schedule

  • Monday – Friday
  • 0700 – 1600
  • No routine on-call requirements

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit and stand for extended periods.
  • Manual dexterity required to perform dental procedures.
  • Ability to safely lift and move up to 25 pounds.
  • Normal visual acuity and hand-eye coordination required.

Immunization Requirements

• Must meet all Defense Health Agency occupational health requirements, including required immunizations, annual influenza vaccination, tuberculosis screening, physical examination, and other medical clearance requirements before beginning employment.

Security Requirements

  • Must successfully complete background investigation and credentialing.
  • Must maintain clinical privileges throughout employment.
  • Must comply with all Military Treatment Facility security and access requirements.
