Provide trauma-informed, permanency-focused therapy to children, adolescents, and families within the foster care and adoption systems. Collaborate with child welfare partners and maintain detailed clinical documentation to support stability and healing for youth.
We are seeking a passionate, client-centered Mental Health Therapist to provide trauma-informed, permanency-focused therapy to children, adolescents, and families involved in foster care, adoption, or guardianship. This role combines direct clinical services, collaboration with caregivers and child welfare partners, and participation in system-level coordination to promote stability, healing, and permanency for youth.
Additional Expectations Maintain confidentiality in accordance with Illinois Mental Health Code. Participate in required trainings and professional development. Available for appointments during after-school and evening hours Maintain professional representation of the agency. Position requires a master’s degree in counseling, social work, psychology or related human services field with at least one year of experience (including internships) working in social services. Must be at least 21 years of age, possess a valid driver's license or state ID, be approved to drive agency vehicles through agency insurance, pass a criminal background check. Must have excellent written and oral communication skills to facilitate and develop curriculums and lesson plans for recovery-based groups as well as document client’s progress. Must be able to set and maintain professional boundaries, adapt to changing needs of the program, and provide de-escalation and crisis intervention techniques as needed.
