About the Unit The Medical-Oncology Unit at Corewell Health South is a 36-bed unit specializing in the care of adult patients with medical, cardiovascular, surgical, oncological, hospice and palliative needs.

This diverse patient population offers team members a rich and rewarding environment for continuous learning and professional growth.

Our unit provides comprehensive care throughout patient admission-from initial diagnosis through treatment, recovery, or palliation.

We are deeply committed to a team-based approach, delivering not only high-quality nursing care but also essential educational and emotional support to patients and their families during every stage of their journey.

About Corewell Health South – Lakeland Hospitals Corewell Health South is a leading healthcare provider in Southwest Michigan, comprising three hospital systems dedicated to delivering comprehensive, patient centered care.

Our network includes an outpatient surgical center, rehabilitation facilities, two long-term care centers, home care and hospice services, and numerous physician practice locations.

In collaboration with the Marie Yeager Cancer Center-our regional hub for oncology services- our Oncology Certified RNs provide advanced, compassionate care to those receiving inpatient chemotherapy.

Corewell Health South is also committed to the professional growth of its team members, offering ongoing education and certification opportunities to support and advance careers in oncology and other fields.

Scope of Work This is a Weekend Program consisting of working 48 out of 52 weekends in various locations throughout the system as need arises.

The weekend is defined as shifts between the hours of 3:00 p.m.

Friday and 7:30 a.m.

Monday.

However, specific times may vary according to location and need.

The Registered Nurse (RN) at Corewell Health South practices within the American Nurses Association (ANA) scope of practice, utilizing the nursing process to deliver high-quality, patient- and family- centered care.

Through comprehensive assessment, planning , implementation, evaluation, and discharge coordination, the RN ensures that care is tailored to meet the unique needs and goals of each patient and their families.

By actively partnering with patients and families, the RN integrates their input into the plan of care and develops personalized teaching strategies to support education, empowerment, and optimal health outcomes.

This collaborative approach fosters trust, enhances patient satisfaction, and promotes holistic healing across the continuum of care.

Qualifications

Required Associates in Nursing Bachelors in Nursing within 5 years Graduates from a non-accredited school of nursing must have at least one year of acute care experience or at least two years of experience in a licensed health care role and must have successfully passed the NCLEX licensure examination. MI Registered Nurse (RN) AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) within 90 days Preferred Chemotherapy Biotherapy - ONCC Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation Radiation Oncology, Infusion Clinic and Medical Oncology (full time employees) within 2 years OR Chemotherapy Biotherapy - ONS #N/A Radiation Oncology, Infusion Clinic and Medical Oncology (full time employees) within 2 years #LI-CL #clinicalwest #CorewellHealthCareers

Requirements

Requires an Associate or Bachelor's degree in Nursing, a Michigan RN license, and BLS certification. Preferred qualifications include Oncology Nursing Certification (ONCC) or Chemotherapy Biotherapy certification.
