Provide comprehensive care for patients with neuro trauma and neurologic issues, including those with spine and brain injuries. Responsibilities include performing NIHSS stroke scale assessments, dysphasia screening, and managing the full nursing process from assessment to evaluation.
In Neuro trauma you will care for a wide variety of patients with care needs in relation to neuro trauma and neurologic issues.
Essentia Health is a Level 1 Trauma center and Thrombectomy Certified Stroke Center.
You will work in a valued/strong based team in a fast paced environment.
In neuro trauma you will receive extensive stroke education and also learn to care for patients with spine and brain injuries.
You will frequently use the NIHSS stroke scale for assessment of patients and help patients with swallowing issues and dysphasia screening.
You will be responsible for organizing and providing care to patients through the process of assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation.
You will delegate aspects of care to other nursing personnel based upon their licensure, preparation, and job descriptions.
You will contribute to the meeting of the mission and goals of the facility and Essentia, and meet the requirements of the Joint Commission if applicable and/or other federal, state, and local regulatory or accrediting agencies. Education Qualifications:
Requires a BSN or ADN degree from an accredited nursing school and current nursing licensure in Minnesota. Candidates must hold or obtain Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification within one month of hire.
