About the role

The trainee will develop laboratory skills in immunogenetics, including HLA typing, DNA technologies, and flow cytometry. Responsibilities include preparing reagents, maintaining equipment, and performing meticulous record keeping under supervision.

We are seeking an Immunogenetics Technologist Trainee who works under the direct supervision of a laboratory manager and/or bench supervisor. The trainee will develop skills in one or more areas in the laboratory and receive the necessary training to advance to a technologist role.

Specific

Duties & Responsibilities

Develop laboratory skills in the following areas: lymphocyte isolation and purification, Human Leukocyte Antigen (HLA) molecular typing, DNA technologies including rSSO, RT-PCR, NGS, and TGS, flow cytometry crossmatch, Luminex-based assays, deceased donor on-call training. Genotype families. Prepare reagents accurately. Maintain quality control of reagents and equipment. Operate and troubleshoot liquid handling robotics, flow cytometers, Luminex instruments, liquid nitrogen freezers. Perform computer data entry. Tabulate, analyze, and report issues. Perform meticulous record keeping. Learn to troubleshoot problems when they arise during technical procedures. Learn to teach techniques and underlying principles. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Biological Science, medical technology, or related field. Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond a high school diploma/graduation equivalent, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

Preferred Qualifications

Salary Range

$41,080 - $73,528 Annually ($44,000 targeted; Commensurate w/exp.) Employee group: Full Time Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:30am-5:00pm FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Location: School of Medicine Department name: Pathology Personnel area: School of Medicine
