Perform high-quality diagnostic CT and MRI procedures according to physician orders and established protocols. Maintain equipment, manage patient flow, and ensure compliance with safety and infection control standards.

Job Summary The CT/MRI Technologist is responsible for performing high quality diagnostic procedures in the CT/MRI department in an efficient manner according to protocol and the physician’s order. The technologist works effectively with patients and physicians and maintains cooperative relationship with interdepartmental personnel.

Job Duties

  • 1.
  • Complete studies in a timely and efficient manner utilizing downtime to assist others where needed.
  • 2.
  • Assures exam charges and 5 day late list are checked daily for the CT and/or MRI department.
  • 3.
  • Organizes workload during high volume to expedite patient care and communicates to other technologists all pending exams and any pertinent information.
  • 4.
  • Assists the physician in performing radiology procedures.
  • 5.
  • Promotes positive relationships at the department level and discusses concerns with the supervisor and presents the department in a positive manner to other employees and staff.

  • Handles equipment in a safe and appropriate manner within guidelines and policies of WRMC and the CT/MRI department.
  • Maintains clean work area and follows equipment cleaning policies.
  • Assures exterior surfaces of the CT/MRI machine are wiped down after each workday and between patients as appropriate.

  • Follow the “on call” policy by responding to call back within acceptable time-frame and arriving in the department within 30 minutes after being called in.

  • Willingly assist with procedures in any area of radiology when needed.
  • Check with co-workers during downtime for need of assistance.
  • 9.
  • Maintains supplies with a minimum inventory and develops new methods of supply utilization.
  • 10.
  • Follows attendance and tardy policies 11.
  • Follows WRMC dress code and appearance policy.
  • 12.
  • Participates in required hospital and department in-services and meetings.
  • 13.
  • Follows safety and infection control policies.
  • 14.
  • Demonstrates a working knowledge of Arkansas Department of Health requirements and maintains an accurate and up to date policy and procedure manual, ACR requirements, department in-service records, safety and infection control standards, and quality improvement reports.

Qualifications

1.

Education

Preferred Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Radiology. Must be ARRT registered and Licensed in the State of Arkansas. Must have BLS upon hire or 30 days post hire date. 2.

Training and

Experience: Preferred to be registered in MRI and/or CT or registry eligible. Must obtain registry within three months of hire. 3.

Job

Knowledge: Experience with Arkansas Department of Health requirements and a clear understanding of hospital operations is required.

Essentials

1.

Must be able to report to work fit for duty and free of any adverse effects of illegal drugs, medical marijuana, prescription medication, and/or alcohol.

2.

Must be able to effectively communicate both orally and in writing with other individuals.

3.

Prepares for diagnostic testing by verification of physician order, verification of patient identity, communication with nursing unit when necessary for order clarification and/or patient transport needs.

4.

Thoroughly explains the procedure to the patient and/or family and answers questions regarding the test to alleviate anxiety and prepare patient for test.

5.

Obtains the highest quality studies possible following department protocol for physician interpretation.

6.

Maintain current BLS, ARRT and State of Arkansas credentialing licensure status.

Physical Demands

Job responsibilities require a considerable amount of physical work. The individual will be required to assist with lifting and moving patients, pushing of carts, wheelchairs, and other equipment; and lifting or pushing of up to 300 pounds. Workday requires frequent walking, stooping, bending, and moderate degrees of stooping and repetitive hand and wrist movement. Work requires dexterity, hand/eye coordination, and physical ability to push and operate medical equipment. The individual must also be able to maneuver throughout the halls, stairways, and patient rooms in response to hospital emergencies.

Requirements

Requires ARRT registration, Arkansas state licensure, and BLS certification. A degree in Radiology is preferred, and candidates must be registered or eligible for registry in CT and/or MRI.
