The RN is responsible for the psychosocial and physical nursing care of adolescent patients in a structured residential treatment setting. Key duties include conducting comprehensive nursing assessments, initiating care plans, and administering medications.
This position is responsible for the psychosocial, physical and general nursing care needs of the patients on his/her unit.
Plan, assign, supervise and evaluate nursing care to include management of the milieu. Participates in the provision of nursing care directed toward meeting the psychosocial, physical and communication needs of the patients. Conducts the nursing assessment which includes the following factors: psychosocial, social, psychological strengths & weaknesses information from family, nursing diagnosis, substance abuse history, suicide history, medication use, and goals for hospitalization. Responsible for ensuring all admission assessments have been signed by an RN. Initiates a nursing care plan within 24 hours of admission. Identifies patient symptoms requiring medical attention, or patient problems and behavior changes and communicates these to the Program Director and attending physician. Administers medications per hospital policy. Must be a graduate of an accredited Nursing program for Registered Nurses, and hold a valid license in the state of Virginia to practice as an RN.
