The RN is responsible for the assessment, planning, delivery, and evaluation of nursing care for assigned patients in the Emergency Department. This includes coordinating care with the healthcare team and implementing individualized nursing plans to enhance patient outcomes.

Job Overview

Fairview is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) on the Med/Surg Unit at the Northland Medical Center located in Princeton, MN.

Schedule: This position will be working 0.6 FTE (48 hours every two weeks).

The shift length will be 12 hours on NIGHT shift with an every third weekend (F,S,S) rotation and a holiday rotation.

Fairview is one part of M Health Fairview, a partnership between the University of Minnesota, M Physicians and Fairview Health Services.

Our care portfolio includes community hospitals, academic hospitals, primary and specialty care clinics, senior facilities, facilitated living centers, rehabilitation centers, home health care services, counseling, pharmacies and benefit management services.

Emergency services: Level IV trauma center and is also Stroke ready Designated by the MN Department of Health.

The department’s bed capacity is 17 which includes 2 trauma/critical care rooms, 2 behavioral health rooms.

We also treat our infusion patients after hours and weekends, when our infusion department is closed.

We consult with DEC for our behavioral patients and SANE for our forensic examinations.

The Registered Nurse is responsible for the assessment, planning, delivery, and evaluation of nursing care for all assigned patient population(s).

The RN is responsible for performing these responsibilities in accordance with all policy, procedures, professional practice guidelines and the MN Nurse Practice Act.

The RN coordinates care with members of the health care team and delegates responsibilities to others as appropriate Assesses patient needs and identifies expected nursing outcomes.

Develops an individualized nursing plan of care.

Implements nursing interventions based on the plan of care.

Evaluates care and patient response to interventions and expected outcomes.

Uses communication strategies to achieve desirable outcomes.

Demonstrates the ability to advance care by utilizing standards, guidelines, care pathways and continuous improvement to enhance patient outcomes.

Promotes a culture of evidence-based practice (EBP) Ensures a safe, secure environment.

Demonstrates ability to provide care or service adjusting approaches to reflect developmental level and cultural differences of population served.

Performs other duties as assigned Required: Current MN RN license in good standing One-year acute care experience, ED Experience Preferred ACLS and TNCC required upon hire or obtained within 1 year PALS or ENPC current or obtained within 1 year of hire Current BLS certification Preferred Prefer experience in critical care, telemetry or emergency nursing Current ICU experience BSN or BAN

Requirements

Requires a current MN RN license and at least one year of acute care experience. BLS certification is required, with ACLS, TNCC, PALS, or ENPC certifications required or obtainable within one year.
