Facilitate the efficient management of surgical and endoscopic patients by preparing them for procedures and assisting with admission and discharge. Maintain the operating room environment through cleaning, equipment setup, and managing sterile supplies.

Full time Day, 7

30am - 4pm, no weekends. About the Unit Corewell Health Trenton is a Level 2 trauma center. The perioperative department prepares patients for surgery by working with our anesthesia providers and surgeons. The patients return to the postoperative side of the unit to recover after anesthesia. The unit manages care for outpatients and inpatients that require surgical procedures. The department provides 24/7 coverage. About Trenton Hospital This Magnet®-designated facility provides comprehensive medical and surgical care for its patients and is one of four recipients of the Truven Health Advantage Award in the category of Health and Clinical Outcomes. It is home to nine university affiliated residency programs. Here, you will find a Level II trauma center that is a nationally recognized heart, vascular and pulmonary specialties along with other specialties like orthopedics, neurosurgery, and women’s health. Scope of Work Under general supervision of the registered nurse is responsible for performing various tasks to facilitate efficient and smooth management of surgical/endoscopic patients and procedures in a safe and timely manner. Prepares patients for procedures, admission and discharge by assisting with clothing change, orienting to environment, positioning, and transport. Inventories and orders supplies per established unit levels; stocks rooms and units daily; returns unused supplies and instruments to Central Services Processing. Transports specimens and x-rays, obtains blood products from blood bank, obtains and reports lab results and performs urine pregnancy testing as directed. Obtains, transports and logs all patient documents; provides general clerical and other support assistance to the department staff and physicians. Turn over the OR room, wipe all the equipment down in the OR room, mop the floors, assist the OR staff with room turnover, bring in equipment for the following case. Assist with opening of sterile supplies and instruments.

Requirements

Requires a high school diploma or GED and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the AHA or Red Cross. Candidates must complete one to three months of on-the-job training to become familiar with equipment and safety processes.
