Responsibilities
- Provide age-appropriate nursing care to adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients on the medical-surgical unit, including planning, implementation, and evaluation of care within an interdisciplinary team.
- Administer medications and manage intravenous therapy, monitoring patient responses and safety.
- Monitor vital signs, assess physiological changes, and respond to stable and emergent patient conditions.
- Collaborate with physicians, licensed and ancillary staff, and caregivers to develop and adjust care plans; delegate tasks to qualified team members within scope of practice.
- Educate patients and families regarding medications, procedures, self-care, and discharge instructions; tailor teaching to age, condition, culture, and readiness.
- Maintain clinical competencies across routine Med/Surg skills and ensure adherence to infection prevention, sterile technique, and safety protocols.
Requirements
- Active RN license in California (state of practice)
- Associate Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an approved vendor per policy
- At least two years of recent experience in Med/Surg or equivalent hospital setting
- Ability to work in a hospital inpatient Med/Surg environment and meet unit-specific responsibilities
- Night shift experience or ability to work 7:00 PM–7:30 AM schedule; candidates preferred to have Med/Surg floor experience
