About the role

Perform circulating and scrubbing duties in the operating room, including surgical site confirmation and instrument counts. Collaborate with surgeons to handle tissues, ligate vessels, and suture muscle, fascia, and skin.

Overview Registered Nurse – First Assist (RNFA) travel position in Lodi, California, in a Short Term Acute Care Hospital setting. Start date: 08/03/2026.

Duration

13 weeks.

Weekly pay: $2,607–$2,809 per week.

Guaranteed hours: 36 per week.

Responsibilities

  • Perform circulating and scrubbing duties in the operating room.
  • Verbally confirm the surgical site/side before induction of anesthesia.
  • Accurately perform sponge, needle, sharp, and instrument counts according to policy.
  • Handle and dissect tissues in collaboration with the surgeon; clamp vessels, coagulate bleeding points, and ligate vessels.
  • Suture muscle, fascia, subcutaneous tissue, and skin in collaboration with the surgeon; place drains as indicated.
  • Assist with cannulation and decannulation procedures when indicated and assist with transferring the patient as needed.

Requirements

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice (California) — Required
  • Completion of an RNFA program that meets AORN standards — Required
  • CNOR certification — Required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an approved vendor — Required
  • CRNFA certification — Preferred
  • Two years of perioperative nursing experience — Preferred
  • Pediatric Emergency Assessment/Recognition and Status (PEARS) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification — Preferred
