Responsibilities

  • Verify patient identity and review physicians’ orders before imaging procedures.
  • Use X-ray equipment to capture radiographic images of bones, tissues, and organs as per orders; explain procedures to patients.
  • Position patients safely, including lifting or moving patients with limited mobility; ensure radiation safety and dose optimization.
  • Produce diagnostic, high-quality images for radiologist interpretation; maintain proper labeling and PACS transfer.
  • Observe patient status, addressing age-specific needs and providing clear written/verbal communication.
  • Promptly notify management of damaged or malfunctioning X-ray equipment and maintain accurate patient records with correct image identification.

Requirements

  • Completion of formal Radiologic Technology training and ARRT certification; active ARRT credential.
  • New York State license or ability to obtain prior to starting.
  • Minimum 2 years of X-ray Technologist experience; Level 1 trauma center experience.
  • Recent OR experience at a trauma 1 center with C-arm/O-arm capabilities (within last 8 months).
  • BLS certification (American Heart Association).
  • On-call requirements: 2–3 shifts per month; must report within 30 minutes for on-call shifts.
  • Physical ability to move/lift patients and stand for extended periods; strong communication and teamwork skills.
