About the role

Acts as a clinical expert in the prevention and management of pressure ulcers, surgical wounds, and abnormal skin conditions. Responsible for developing care standards, providing staff education, and supervising the use of Wound VAC devices.

Position Summary: Humboldt Park Health is looking for an Experienced Wound Care Registered Nurse to join our Dynamic Team:

Duties: and Responsibilities:

1.

Functions as a clinical expert consultant in the prevention and management of pressure/vascular ulcers, surgical wounds and abnormal skin conditions 2.

Serves as a consultant in the management of patients with urinary and fecal incontinence to prevent skin related problems 3.

Participates in and uses evidence-based research to identify strategies for improving nursing practice 4.

Develops and monitors standards of care and assists in the formation of and evaluation of procedures, protocols and policies related to skin care and pressure ulcer prevention 5.

Identifies staff educational needs through close collaboration with the Healthcare Team 6.

Conducts formal and informal educational programs 7.

Provides clinical mentorship by establishing relationships which serve to guide, orient, coach for the purpose of advancing practice 8.

Promotes continuous quality improvement in the delivery of effective patient care, products and services 9.

Guide bed surface management through authorization and monitoring of specialty beds 10.

Supervise the use of Wound VAC devices 11.

Maintains documents and records in compliance with departmental, organizational and external agency requirements.

  • Checks hospital email daily.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

Requires an experienced Registered Nurse with expertise in wound care and skin management. Must be able to provide clinical mentorship and adhere to organizational policies and safety standards.
