The Unit Secretary is responsible for nursing unit communication. Functions include serving as a receptionist, maintaining patient records, and transcribing and communicating physician orders as well as maintaining order at the nursing station. Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
Education and Training: High school graduate or equivalent preferred. Certification as a Unit Secretary preferred.
None required. Previous work experience in a medical environment preferred. Experience with office equipment desirable. Candidates should be a high school graduate with a valid CNA certification and current BLS certification. While no experience is required, two to three years in an acute or rehabilitation hospital is preferred.
