Position Summary

Provides professional nursing care within an outpatient clinic setting.

Responsibilities

Adheres to established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program and safety standards. Cooperates with other personnel to achieve department objectives and maintain good employee relations, interdepartmental objectives and infection control policies. Prepares patients for scheduled procedures and assists in patient assessment. Accurately records history and performs basic triage procedures per policy. Retrieves initial basic condition of patients, creates nursing history and reports to appropriate practitioner. Demonstrates sensitivity to patient's comfort and privacy by using the AIDET fundamentals of communication. Assists providers with examinations, procedures and other processes related to direct patient care. Maintains a safe, comfortable and therapeutic environment for patients/families during their visit. Monitors and ensures accuracy of recording on patient medical records. Maintains all required reports, records, statistics, etc. Ensures an adequate stock of supplies and well-maintained equipment. Inspects area daily for compliance with policies, procedures, regulations and standards and takes corrective action when violations occur. Schedules all outside patient appointments per physician order and relays accurately to patients. Take calls from hospitals/nursing homes and relays appropriate information to practitioner in a timely manner. Assure test results are received and relayed to the patient in a timely manner. Completes medical orientation checklist. Initiates appropriate patient education. Collaborates with interdisciplinary team members. Implements care appropriate to diagnosis and per physician order. Problem solves and coordinates clinic patient care with physician supervision. Demonstrates competence in performing skills to include appropriate delivery of care according to the age-specific needs of the population served. Maintain professional growth and development through seminars, workshops and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise. Collaborate with the patient, physician and other care team members as part of a team based approach to overall patient care. Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.

Qualifications

Minimum Education: None specified; however, must be sufficient to meet the standards for achievement of the below indicated license and/or certification as required by the issuing authority. Minimum Experience: Prefer at least one (1) year of professional nursing experience. Licensure Requirement: Must have a valid Tennessee RN license. CPR and OSHA training annually.
