Position Overview

The Medical Assistant/Nurse provides comprehensive clinical, administrative, and care coordination support to ensure efficient clinic operations and a high-quality patient experience. This role assists physicians and clinical staff with patient care, surgical and post-operative workflows, documentation, communication, medical clearance coordination, supply management, and related administrative functions. The Medical Assistant must demonstrate strong attention to detail, sound judgment, professionalism, and a patient-centered approach in all interactions.

Requirements

Responsibilities

Provide direct clinical support by rooming patients, obtaining chief complaints, documenting vital signs, capturing required photographs, assisting with examinations and procedures, and preparing treatment materials as needed. Perform wound care and post-operative support, including dressing removals and changes, drain maintenance and removal, suture and staple removal, Profore application, wound vacuum/negative pressure wound therapy support, wellness checks, and nurse visits. Coordinate patient care activities, including scheduling follow-up care, arranging referrals, supporting discharge instructions, submitting medical clearance requests, tracking pending clearances, and communicating scheduling readiness. Support surgical workflows for reconstructive and cosmetic procedures by coordinating supplies, implants, tissue expanders, sizers, compression garments, lab work, pre-operative paperwork, implant registry information, and related documentation. Communicate professionally with patients, physicians, clinical staff, hospitals, pre-admission testing teams, home health agencies, wound care facilities, vendors, and other stakeholders to support timely and accurate patient care. Maintain accurate records by uploading patient information and photographs, routing test results, distributing operative notes, processing refill requests, managing patient portal messages and clinical tasks, and handling home health and wound vacuum documentation. Maintain clinical readiness by organizing and stocking examination rooms, ordering and inventorying medical supplies, sterilizing instruments, and ensuring required clinical materials are available. Provide cross-functional administrative support, including surgery scheduling, patient check-in, appointment scheduling, insurance information entry, cosmetic surgery quotes. Other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications: High school diploma required; bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration or a related field preferred. May be substituted with relevant work experience. Must hold a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) credential, or a Registered Nurse (RN) license if practicing as a nurse. 1–3 year’s experience in a clinical, surgical, dermatology, plastic surgery, wound care, or specialty practice setting preferred. Knowledge of medical terminology, clinical documentation, patient communication, and basic office workflows. Experience with electronic health records and patient portal/task management systems preferred. Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and comply with applicable privacy, safety, and clinical standards. Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with patients, physicians, clinical staff, hospitals, home health agencies, and external partners. Excellent organization, follow-through, and attention to detail in a fast-paced clinical environment. Ability to prioritize multiple tasks, respond to patient needs, and support time-sensitive clinical and surgical workflows. Professional judgment, reliability, discretion, and commitment to patient-centered service. Working Conditions and Physical Requirements: This role typically works in a clinical or administrative office setting within a healthcare facility, such as a physician’s practice, clinic, or outpatient center. The role may require occasional evening or weekend hours to accommodate patient needs or address urgent operational matters. Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
