About the Role

The Behavioral Health Technician plays a critical role in supporting the mental health and well-being of patients within a behavioral health care setting.

This position involves direct patient care, assisting with clinical assessments, and implementing individualized treatment plans under the supervision of licensed clinicians.

The technician is responsible for monitoring patient behavior, managing crisis situations effectively, and ensuring a safe therapeutic environment.

Accurate clinical documentation and maintaining comprehensive records are essential to support continuity of care and discharge planning.

Ultimately, the role contributes to improving patient outcomes by providing compassionate, skilled support to individuals experiencing serious emotional disturbances (SED) and other mental health challenges.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree in a related field preferred.
  • Experience or training in behavioral health, mental health, or related clinical settings.
  • Knowledge of crisis intervention techniques and mental health care principles.
  • Ability to maintain detailed and accurate clinical documentation.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients and clinical staff.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certification as a Behavioral Health Technician or equivalent credential.
  • Experience working with pediatric or adolescent populations with serious emotional disturbances (SED).
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems used in behavioral health settings.
  • Training in trauma-informed care and de-escalation strategies.
  • Additional coursework or certification in clinical assessments or discharge planning.

Responsibilities
