Performs basic and advanced cardiac ultrasound examinations and provides direct patient care under the direction of a cardiologist. Responsible for imaging documentation, preliminary reporting via EIMS, and assisting in the training of laboratory trainees.
Performs various (basic and advanced) cardiac ultrasound examinations under direction of staff Cardiologist.
Utilizes Ultrasound equipment.
Provides direct patient care to patients.
Contributes to efficient operation of department, ensuring quality and continuity of patient care.
Rotates between the Davis and Mayo buildings and may be required to rotate to outreach sites.
Responsible for thorough imaging and documentation of various conditions and anatomical differences.
Must possess extensive knowledge of human anatomy and physiology.
Uses several different types of Ultrasound equipment and transducers.
Utilizes all Ultrasound techniques, including gray scale imaging, color and spectral Doppler, 3D, and strain imaging.
Provides interpreting physician with preliminary report through EIMS, then reviews all images prior to final reading of the exam.
Must be well organized and able to function independently.
Assist in the orientation and training of all levels of trainees and visitors assigned to the Echocardiography Laboratory.
Expectations extended to include on-call practices, weekends, evenings and holiday coverage as needed.
Must possess strong human relation and communication skills, and sound judgment.
Must have understanding of sterile procedures and isolation precaution techniques, and must exercise proper precautions to avoid potential exposure to radiation, infectious hazards, sharp instruments and defibrillator equipment.

Requires RDCS or RCS certification (or completion within 6 months) and BLS or ACLS certification. Preferred candidates have an associate's or bachelor's degree and two to three years of experience.
