About the role

The role involves monitoring patient health, measuring vital signs, and assisting the healthcare team with treatments and basic medical procedures. Responsibilities also include maintaining accurate records, performing safety rounds, and ensuring facility hygiene and safety.

Primary Responsibilities Include

  • Monitoring patient health and measuring vital signs.
  • Maintaining accurate patient records.
  • Assisting the healthcare team with administering treatments.
  • Collecting liquid samples or specimens for testing.
  • Performing basic procedures such as minor wound care, accu checks, ekg’s (as directed by nursing)
  • Reporting any changes in patients' conditions to a registered nurse or physician.
  • Timely safety rounds on all patients during the shift and documented.
  • Maintaining close communication with the patient's healthcare team.
  • Assisting with medical or behavioral emergencies
  • Inspect the facility and act to maintain excellent hygiene and safety (decontaminating equipment, sanitizing surfaces, PPE etc.)
  • Provide prompt, efficient, and responsive service.
  • Understand and maintain strict confidentiality of patient information.
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED required.
  • PCT/CNA certification.
  • Experience working in patient care for 2 years minimum, behavioral health preferred.
  • Professional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Working knowledge of patient care practice, methods, and Illinois regulations.
  • Strong patient relation skills with therapeutic communication
  • Patience and compassion with all patients and staff
